Yea the story is a little messy with the subscription piece. I wonder if a launch of "we split with authors + we highlight/support marginalized voices" is a simpler message. See what kind of traction you get and then can try membership later. Plus, if you are getting 30-50% off retail price with your membership, what happens to that margin that was supposed to be shared with authors?
This is interesting. I’m not sure the subscription model is sustainable, though. I do like that people are trying things without Amazon.
